Whether you’re wanting to fill in gaps in your eyebrows, refine their shape, or even add a slight arch, microblading may be the answer you’re looking for. Now available at Indiana Plastic Surgery, microblading is a form of eyebrow enhancement that meticulously draws thin, hair-like strokes within your existing brows to create fuller, well-shaped eyebrows that look completely natural.
What is microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow enhancement treatment. Unlike previous methods of permanent makeup or eyebrow tattooing, microblading uses a handheld device with an attached microblade “needle” to draw each individual hair stroke one at a time. This closely resembles the natural appearance of your existing eyebrows, achieving the desired fullness or shape without a fake or painted on look.
How is the microblading treatment performed?
Microblading is performed as an in-office treatment at our Munster and Valparaiso plastic surgery practice. This procedure is completely non-surgical and requires no general anesthesia. When you come in for your microblading, we will begin by first drawing the individual strokes using a removable pencil until you are happy with the shape and fullness. Next, a numbing cream will be applied to the area in order to minimize any discomfort during your treatment. Finally, the microblading begins! Your microblading professional will use the handheld device to draw each individual hair stroke. Pigmented ink (matched to the color of your existing brows) is then applied to fill in each stroke. A second pass is typically then performed before completing the process.
How long does microblading take?
Most microblading treatments performed at Indiana Plastic Surgery take roughly two hours. Following your microblading session, no downtime is required and you are free to resume your normal routine.
How long will the results of my microblading treatment last?
Mircoblading offers patients semi-permanent results, allowing you to achieve your desired look without the scary commitment of previous tattooing methods. Most microblading treatments will last for about a year before the pigment begins to fade. To maintain the look of your eyebrows, it is best to undergo annual microblading touch-up treatments.
