Last year, there were more than 6 million injections of Botox and Dysport in the United States. Over the past three years, Botox procedures have jumped by 15 percent. More than ever, men and women are both looking to knock years off of their appearances in order to compete in this new youth-driven culture of modern day America. We all want to age just like the celebrities. However, lately there has been a rise in teenagers who have been seeking out Botox … but why? Denervating injections like Botox are intended to soften the muscles of the face in order to tighten skin for a younger looking appearance, normally an issue that teenagers don’t need to worry about.
How young is too young to start Botox?
The thing is, everyone’s skin is different. While in almost every situation, it is unnecessary for teenagers to seek out Botox, there are rare cases when someone as young as 18 may begin seeing frown lines or other early signs of aging. However, in most cases, lines and wrinkles don’t begin showing until a person’s 20s or 30s.
When is a good time to start Botox treatments?
Botox can be used as a preventative measure for wrinkles and lines as you age. Starting treatment at the first signs of aging and continuing injections between two to four times per year can help to prevent and reduce the development of signs of aging so that you are able to maintain a younger looking complexion. However, more and more teenage girls have been pursuing Botox for reasons that the injection is not meant for.
